Pinhole camera

Hey,

Not to get anyone's hopes up out there (though at this point, I know I have no viewers), but I'm actually feeling like I might end up committing to this blog thing. The reality is I can think of no one who would want to read some teenager ramble off about film. But your here anyway, so enough about me and more about film!

Ever heard of a pinhole camera? Probably not... I hadn't until last week when I looked up how to build my own camera out of scratch. I got about ten million results off of google for this technique that has been used by people for centuries (or a long time anyway). So what is a pinhole camera you ask? Well basically it's a camera that you can make out of a box, oatmeal container, paint can, etc... It's called a pinhole camera because instead of having a lens, It has a tiny little hole poked in by a needle to allow just enough light to expose the film. Now, I'm not going to go rambling off on how to make one, but I have done a significant amount of research on the topic, and I have some links for the best tutorials I found on how to make them.

As for my pinhole camera, I'm still working out the kinks. My problem is I accidentally overexposed my film, and now I have to run the store to get some more. Until I can successfully take some shots of my own with it, here are some that other people have taken with thier pinhole cameras.

Just to be clear, this isn't one of those narcissistic blogs that's all about me. I just was feeling bored, so I decided to make a blog. I'm not the owner of some big movie company, or a photography studio either. I'm just a boy. I'm not one of those people with a big black camera around my neck, but I'm headed in that direction. Though I don't own a big black professional camera, I do know my piece about photography, and I'm going to have one of those cameras soon. I'm also not a perfect writer so don't freak out if I can't spell mississippi.

That said, I think I'll start blogging now.

I'm inspired by film, I like it more than digital. To be quite frank, there's not really any visual difference between the two. The real difference is (and not to offend you digital users out there), authenticness (If that's a word...). A digital Image is basically a computer generated painting made up of millions of tiny one colored squares called pixels. Film on the other hand is a impressionable piece of plastic, coated in chemicals that respond to light. In other words,

It's a sort-of reflection of the real image, a painting made of light exposure. Now, I don't want get all fussy, but I just am saying that in my opinion film is more professional.

So for the next -blank amount of time- I'm going to be blogging about my film ventures. So why should you read what I'm writing? I don't know... the very concept of a blog is weird in my opinion.
